What’s the Job?:

As a Manager of Software Engineering you’ll be managing two or three small teams of software engineers handling architecture, development, and planning of large scale projects for our in-house enterprise functions including Sales, Finance, Billing/Invoicing, Accounting, etc..

  • Establish future state enterprise architecture and roadmaps. Lead managers and Senior staff members designing, and with a few Java and Cloud infrastructure applications .
  • Develop and implement new platforms, while migrating existing applications to automated, cloud enabled services.
  • You’ll also be working very closely with project and product managers to meet timelines and create new requested features.
  • Mentor Software Engineers and regularly deliver KPI's that assess progress.

About You:

  • You’re comfortable managing teams, across disciplines including Software Developers, DevOps, Cloud, QA, etc.
  • You’re willing to lead by example, and you take an active approach to managing the team.
  • Experience in News, Media and/or publishing industries would be a plus.

What do you need for this role?

Proven experience driving Managers, Architect and Engineers who are experts at architecting, designing, and working with Java web based applications and other solutions

7+ years of hands on coding experience

2+ years as Engineering Manager 

Clear understanding of Object Oriented Principles, RDBMS, and various architecture styles

Strong working knowledge of modern software engineering practices such as source code management/version control, CI/CD and test driven environment experience.

You’re comfortable communicating with both C-Suite, technical managers, stake holders and non technical business contacts

Plusses:

  • Product Ownership mindset with history of successful product planning and Delivery.
  • SDLC, DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as code, micro-services architecture and containerization exp.

We offer a competitive package inclusive of salary and comprehensive medical, dental and vision benefits as well as 401k and much, much more. This role will be a Hybrid (remote/in office) role in the future Base salary $175,000 to 190,000.00 + 5% target bonus
