What is the job?

 

Joining our Engineering Organization as a Principal Engineer you will be responsible for providing the highest level of hands-on technical leadership for the teams you work with.

 

As we sure up technical debt, we need an expert to help steer the ship and drive implementation. We have two major monolithic applications that are migrating to microservices.

 

These projects are complete architectural rebuilds and this is a leadership role. You will work collaboratively with engineering management to drive the roadmap and adoption through staff level engineers on down.

 

You will be the front lines of tackling the most difficult back-end engineering issues the team will certainly encounter. This role is hands-on and 50% of your time will be contributing to the code.

 

Communication is huge. The ability to facilitate interaction and introduce new technical solutions is an essential and integral aspect of this role.

 

What skills do you need to have to be successful in this role?

 

• Strong Back-End Engineering Experience: You are an experienced technologist who is already at the top of a strong engineering organization and can drive technical direction across an organization

 

• Leadership: You have worked in technical leadership capacity for a number of years

 

• Web Application Architecture and Design: You can hit the ground running and have worked on large scale applications and distributed systems

 

• Migrations: Managing large scale moves from monolithic to microservice based architecture is a major plus!

 

• Communication skills are essential.

Back-End: We are technology agnostic when it comes to our engineers, but use Golang (Go), Java, and C# heavily
