Remote SOC Analyst II - III

An exciting opportunity is available with a SOC team that guards the infrastructure for the top name in the news industry. We are seeking a level II-III SOC analyst to help them continue their 170 years+ of excellence.


Who are we?

Information Security helps prevent this well-known news entity from becoming " news."

The team works to protect the news makers, their support staff and the platforms which they rely on every day. They are responsible for everything from analyzing malware and tracking threat actors to penetration testing and educating staff on modern threats.


Who are we looking for?

Seeking an InfoSec Analyst with excellent communication and technical skills who has the desire to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of assets and data. They seek someone who has a passion for both information security and the news entity's mission; a strong desire to learn and willingness to share knowledge with others in securing the infrastructure.


What you will do

  • Identify, analyze and remediate threats in our environment
  • Understand SOC objectives and direction, and ensure procedures are followed
  • Identify improvements within processes, procedures, policies and tools to improve efforts and daily operations
  • Provide subject matter expertise on network-based attacks, network traffic analysis, and intrusion methodologies
  • Mentor members of Information Security to broaden their knowledge and help develop technical and leadership skills
  • Provide on-call support for all security solutions.


What you have

  • 7+ years of relevant security experience
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and decision making skills
  • Deep knowledge of cloud computing and cloud networking concepts
  • Experience with scripting languages, regular expressions and APIs
  • Extensive experience with web, cloud and virtual environments, including AWS and GCP
  • Intimate knowledge of tools similar to ones we use (SIEM, EDR, IDS,etc)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of staff
  • Strong customer service skills, especially when providing support and advice to people with varying technical skill levels
